Here you will find a list of every ingredient we use in each of our products along with an explanation of its benefits. We hope you find this helpful! Allantoin- softening skin protectant; causes rapid cell regeneration and proliferation
Aloe - hydrating, emollient, anti-inflammatory, forms barrier on skin, soothes redness, soothes itching
Apple (and their peels) – contain a variety of polyphenols (micronutrients in plants) that together are antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-microbial; high in Vitamin C which acts as a free radical scavenger; contain malic acid which is an AHA
Avocado Oil – high in Vitamin B which can help with skin damage, skin protection and cell regeneration; also high in Vitamins A and E; antioxidant; high in oleic acid which acts as an anti-inflammatory and makes it very moisturizing; is easily absorbed by the skin
Banana Powder – rich in potassium which is found in the stratum corneum in our NMF; could help reduce irritation. Also rich in Vitamin A which can improve skin barrier function, increase cell proliferation, increase thickening of the skin and increase collagen production. It can also help increase skin’s water retention.
Borage Oil – high in GLA (gamma linoleic acid) which helps with skin barrier repair, decreases transepidermal water loss, increases skin hydration and skin flexibility; contains ferulic acid which is a very effective antioxidant (free-radical scavenger) that can soothe and moisturize skin, repair light and weather induced skin damage, reduce itching and inflammation and may have an effect on aging; astringent; contains ellagic acid which can offer a reduction in the destruction of collagen, increase skin cell regeneration and thickening.
BTMS-50 – Behentrimonium methosulfate (and) cetyl alcohol – a conditioning emulsifier
Caffeine Extract – soothing, anti-inflammatory, and vasoconstrictive which can help decrease redness and puffiness; by narrowing blood vessels and calming skin it can temporarily reduce under-eye bags; can temporarily reduce the appearance of dark circles because it helps with the microcirculation (the circulation of blood in the smallest blood vessels) in the skin
Calendula Extract – Soothing, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, stimulates collagen production
Carrot Seed Extract – good for sensitive and/or dry skin; high in beta carotene as well as Vitamins A, B, C & E; antioxidant; moisturizing
Cetyl Alcohol – thickener; short chain, saturated fatty alcohol imparts an emollient, silky feel
Cocamidopropyl Betaine – another mild surfactant derived from coconut; responsible for cleansing
Cucumber Extract/Powder – emollient, soothing (will reduce redness and inflammation), astringent, hydrating, anti-inflammatory, analgesic
Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate – non-paraben preservative
Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate – mild cleanser good for sensitive skin; leaves skin feeling soft and conditioned
Distilled Water - provides hydration
Evening Primrose Extract – soothing, anti-irritant
Fine Pumice for sensitive skin - used as a physical exfoliant
Glycerin – humectant
Goat Milk – provider of lipids and proteins; improves skin barrier function; provides Vitamins A, B6, B12 and E; contains triglycerides which improve skin elasticity and reinforce the barrier; contains major and trace minerals including selenium which has antioxidant properties; highly moisturizing
Grapeseed Extract – astringent; contains Vitamins C & E; antioxidant; anti-inflammatory; contains resveratrol which is a great antioxidant that scavenges free-radicals and prevents their formation and is also reported to stimulate healthy cell proliferation.
Green Tea Extract/Powder – anti-inflammatory; contains powerful antioxidants; may play a role in stabilization of collagen and maintenance of elastin in the skin
Honeyquat – refatting and conditioning agent; made from honey
Hydrolyzed Oat Protein – film former; protects the skin barrier
Lavender Hydrosol - very soothing and cooling; provides some anti-irritancy properties; great for weather chapped or damaged skin
Mango Powder – contains enzymes that encourage desquamation (dead skin cell removal); high in beta-carotene which encourages skin regeneration and a softening in the appearance of wrinkles; high in antioxidants and is anti-bacterial (which may help acne-prone skin) and astringent which will help tighten pores. Other Vitamins and minerals include: Vitamins A (stimulates collagen production), B6 (reduces sebum on the skin), C (may reduce sun damage induced by sun’s UV rays, fights free-radicals), E (promotes hydration), and K; Copper (reduces the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles, lightens skin, fights free-radicals); Potassium (promotes hydration); Magnesium (helps reduce oily skin)
Panthenol – readily penetrates the skin where it is converted into pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5); it behaves as a humectant; is an effective emollient; offers long lasting moisturization; is very soothing; helps improve the skin’s barrier function; is essential for epithelial (barrier, secretion, absorption) function and cellular rejuvenation; promotes normal skin keratinization
Papaya – contains enzyme papain which acts as a powerful exfoliant and is very good at breaking down proteins; good antioxidant; contains Vitamins A, B, and C; high in carotenoid lycopene which is anti-inflammatory and offers skin-soothing properties; may cause irritation to sensitive skin
Phenoxyethanol, capryl glycol, sorbic acid - preservative; paraben free; not a formaldehyde donor
Pineapple – contains the enzyme bromelain which can help to reduce the adhesion between dead skin cells and encourage desquamation; high in ascorbic acid (Vitamin C); antioxidant; free-radical scavenger; may cause irritation to sensitive skin
Pumpkin Powder – contains fruit enzymes and AHA’s which increase cell-turnover; high in Vitamins A & C which are antioxidant (protect against free-radicals), help soften and smooth the skin, and boost collagen; plentiful in essential fatty acids Vitamin E and zinc which are necessary to maintain good barrier function.
Propylene Glycol - humectant
Rice Bran Oil – high in ferulic acid which is a more effective antioxidant than Vitamin E and can help with light or radiation induced skin damage; offers moisturizing, softening and anti-inflammatory properties; contains squalene (great for mature skin) and Vitamin B. Also high in oleic acid which is moisturizing; helps with skin regeneration; is well-absorbed and acts as an anti-inflammatory and linoleic acid which helps to improve skin barrier function; helps soothe itchy, dry skin; acts as an anti-inflammatory and a moisture retainer.
Rose Water - very mild; anti-inflammatory; rich in antioxidants, Vitamin A and Vitamin C; may help control sebum production; hydrating
Rosemary Hydrosol - astringent; anti-inflammatory; rich in antioxidants, may help control sebum production
Shea Butter – very high in Vitamin E; antioxidant; contains esters which can reduce superficial irritation and redness; contains allantoin which protects the barrier; high in oleic and stearic acid which offer moisturizing, regenerating, anti-inflammatory and softening properties and improve skin flexibility and repair
Silk Proteins – skin barrier function and hydration
Sodium Chloride - thickener
Sodium Cocoyl Apple Amino Acids – extremely mild surfactant derived from apple amino acids; respects the skin barrier; responsible for cleansing
Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate – mild cleanser that leaves an “elegant” feel
Sodium Lactate – humectant
Sorbitol – humectant
Stearic Acid – a saturated, long-chain fatty acid; used as a thickener
Strawberry Powder – rich source of Vitamin C, antioxidants, and naturally occurring salicylic acid (a beta-hydroxy acid). BHA’s encourage cell-turnover allowing healthy cells to come to the surface. They are oil-soluble and therefore penetrate the pores more effectively than the water-soluble alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA’s).
Vitamin E – sinks into skin and behaves as an antioxidant (free-radical scavenger); also softens and soothes skin
Watermelon Seed Powder – high in Vitamins C and E which are antioxidant; contains lycopene which is a powerful anti-inflammatory carotenoid that offers skin-soothing properties; also contains potassium and Vitamins A and B6
Willow Bark Extract - exfoliating, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, astringent, oil control, contains salicin which is a precursor to salicylic acid
Witch Hazel Extract/Hydrosol – great astringent, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant
